DS Academy

DS Academy is a digital creativity curriculum built around your school’s athletic program. Lessons give students and teachers the creative freedom to choose projects and timelines that work for them — no prior software experience required. All technical instruction is embedded directly into each lesson, so students learn as they create.

Start with Lessons 1 and 2, then let the rest of the curriculum flex to fit your classroom. Optional Basic Level and Pro Level support packages include virtual training with curriculum creator Don Goble, who will guide your teachers through a personalized path from day one.

Welcome to DS Academy!

The lessons included in our curriculum are intended to allow students and teachers the creative freedom to choose the projects, applications, and timelines that they are most comfortable with, or as needed, for your sporting events.

By integrating our digital creativity curriculum into your classroom, you will:
  • boost student engagement through interactive, project-based activities.
  • cultivate critical skills like problem-solving and innovation with high-impact practices.
  • prepare students for the workforce by fostering creativity and visual communication skills.

The DS Academy lessons that should be taught first are listed as "Lesson 1 and Lesson 2." The remainder of the lessons are modular in nature and built on completing lessons 1 and 2. Therefore, there is no required order necessary after the first two lessons, so teachers can implement as they wish, or as the creator of the curriculum, Don Goble, did to offer "choice" projects to students throughout the semester. Should you choose, Don Goble covers this workflow in detail with teachers when you purchase DS Academy Basic Level and/or Pro Level support.

It is important to note that the key to completing any lesson after "Lesson 1," will be to capture game footage from at least one of your sports teams. Whether you set up cameras at your stadium/arena, or dispatch students to a game and record on the sidelines and press box with mobile devices or handheld cameras, gathering at least one game of video footage will be paramount.

The technical parts of projects are all built into the lessons and do not require any instruction ahead of time on specific technology. Software application choices, editing, workflow, etc. are all built into the lessons for students to learn as they complete the project. Lesson 1 should take only 30-45 minutes to complete (game footage is not required), whereas Lesson 2 will take up

to two weeks of class time (game video footage required), depending on the duration of your classes (50 minutes as opposed to 90-minute blocks.) Again, this is where the DS Academy Basic Level Support virtual training would pay off, with Don Goble, as he will guide your teachers to a path that they wish to follow.
