Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is one of the few private schools between Memphis and St. Louis, but that’s not the only thing that makes it unique.
“Our athletic programs are 100% fundraised,” said Alex Jackson, former Development Director. “Zero tuition dollars go to our athletic programs.”
It’s because of this that decisions like replacing an old scoreboard carry a little more weight. In recent years, the need for several new scoreboards on the Cape Girardeau campus arose, and Athletic Director, Jeff Graviett, along with Booster Club member, Glenn Campbell, knew they had to think fast.
“We need a softball scoreboard. We need a basketball scoreboard,” said Campbell. “Those things are going to happen in the next couple of years. What can we do to sustain this campus for a long time?”
Graviett and Campbell started their research by speaking with multiple scoreboard companies, some even as far from them as California, to ensure they were doing their due diligence. After speaking with the team at Digital Scoreboards, Graviett said, “It was no question. From the price to the quality of the board to the relationship we have. To the warranty…I mean, it was a no-brainer. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with them.”
A Win-Win Partnership
Digital Scoreboards is a company that solves scoreboard problems, and the problem Notre Dame Regional High School faced was funding.
Thanks to Digital Scoreboards and Scoreboard Media, Notre Dame was able to fund their new boards at zero cost to the school.
“There was zero money up front. We didn’t put a penny up. After three years, Scoreboard Media will be paid back,” said Campbell. “And over the next seven years there’s a split.”
The new additions to Notre Dame’s campus have not only significantly enhanced the fan experience, but provided value far beyond what they had hoped. “The world of digital media is here,” said Campbell. “We’re tapping a different revenue stream than we did prior, because we were always seeking donations,” said Graviett. “You’re selling digital advertising,” said Campbell. “And that is a much easier sell than a static sign.”
“When all of your sports are on the same level because you went digital all throughout your facility, every sport gets not only the great boards, and that fan experience, but also, all of your sports are feeling equally treated when it comes to sponsorship dollars,” said Jackson.
The partnership between Notre Dame Regional High School and Digital Scoreboards proved to be a win-win.
