At Palisades High School, nestled in the scenic region of Pennsylvania, athletics play a central role in school spirit and community pride. As the largest school district by square miles in the state, Palisades has a unique challenge in serving its broad geographic area with limited resources.
However, as Athletic Director Brian Gilbert took on his role, he quickly identified that the school’s aging facilities needed an upgrade—especially the outdated scoreboard. After much research, Gilbert chose to partner with Chris Kirn and the team at Digital Scoreboards to make the necessary upgrades.
Bringing the Community Together
The new scoreboard has had a major impact not only on Palisades’ game day atmosphere, but also on the local community. “When our team crosses the street to come in on a Friday night and we’re playing our entrance video, not only our fans but the away fans are kind of in awe and probably a little jealous of what we’re able to provide.”
The scoreboard has also been a valuable tool for supporting local businesses.
“We have a lot of local small businesses. After the game, go support this local restaurant—that’s a typical ad we would put on our board. Or if you have a flat tire, you can go see the local garage. It’s really been great community involvement.”
A Lasting Impact
“It’s made a name for our program,” Gilbert explains. “Schools will come here to our stadium if it’s track and field, or soccer, or field hockey, but especially football on a Friday night.”
Gilbert also shares how the quality of the new scoreboard has drawn attention from local colleges. “Some of the area colleges are starting to see what we have here in the high school, and they’re going after the boards as well. I think it’s only going to grow.”
Looking to the future, Gilbert is confident that Digital Scoreboards will continue to play a key role in their athletic operations. “We can’t be more happy. Digital Scoreboards will be a part of anything that we do moving forward with our scoreboard operations.”
